AECO Innovation Lab (AECO) is thrilled to announce the appointment of Claudia Cozzitorto to the AECO Board of Advisors (BoA). Claudia is a respected architect who has dedicated her 15-year career to pioneering the transformation of the sector through digitization. Her particular expertise in Building Information Modelling (BIM) – and firm belief that BIM will elevate and reshape the profession to drive value for every stakeholder – has placed her at the intersection of where architecture meets technology.

The architect’s lens

As a member of the AECO BoA, Cozzitorto brings an expert voice as a professional architect, informing strategy and direction as we seek to create a world in which architecture, engineering and construction stakeholders work in an integrated, seamless manner. Her extensive experience spans a wide range of initiatives from large governmental projects to corporate offices, community centres, post-secondary institutions and residential developments.

In addition to her current full-time role as Director of Design Technologies at Diamond Schmitt Architects, Claudia is also the Founder and Chair of the Toronto BIM Community (tBIMc), the Vice President of buildingSMART Canada, a Mentor for the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) and a sought-after speaker at events across Canada.

“My personal philosophy is to build stronger and more resilient societies through the use of technology in the architect profession,” says Claudia. “I am excited to be joining the AECO Board of Advisors as we strive to improve the quality of the environment where we live and work.”

Industry leaders

Claudia and the rest of the industry leaders on the BoA collectively represent an unprecedented depth and breadth of professional experience. The Board also includes members from the public, private and academic sectors whose specializations include engineering, construction, real estate, business, finance, change strategy and policy. The BoA cultivates deeper relationships with industry, government and financial partners to facilitate digital transformation in the AEC sector.

Arash Shahi, CEO of AECO says, “the AECO leadership team is delighted to officially welcome Claudia to our advisory board. She is an esteemed member of the architecture community and leader in her field, who shares our enthusiasm and recognizes the potential of AECO initiatives. Claudia has an important role to play, particularly on projects such as One Ontario where we aim to create a framework for establishing a BIM standard for municipal use across the province to enable code compliance checking and related applications.”
