AECO Innovation Lab (AECO) is very pleased to announce the appointment of Aubrey Le Blanc to the AECO Board of Advisors (BoA). Aubrey is a world-class leader with extensive board and association experience within the public, private and not-for-profit sectors.

Focus on Partnerships

With a remarkable career that has spanned several continents, Le Blanc brings more than 25 years of leadership experience to his role on the AECO BoA. His extensive background has included advising governments from West Germany to Japan and South Africa, and establishing partnerships for consumer advocacy. He currently holds the position of Chief Administrative Officer of the Ontario Building Officials Association (OBOA), as well as senior volunteer positions with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA), Standards Council of Canada (SCC), and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

For 10 years, Aubrey was Chief Executive Officer and Registrar of Tarion. His leadership extends beyond the boardroom to his community, where he has participated in strategic board work though Western University’s Alumni Association, and as Vice-Chair of DanceWorks and Chair of the Board at the Hearing Foundation of Canada. He also devotes his time to mentor the future generation of industry leaders.

“I am passionate about building relationships that lead to the establishment of standards for a safe, effective and equitable market – both broadly and within the development sector,” says Aubrey. “It is exciting to join AECO’s Board of Advisors as we strive to become the knowledgeable digitization partner for stakeholders within the AEC industries, and shape the future of these sectors.”

Leading the AEC industry

In addition to Le Blanc, the Board includes other industry leaders who collectively represent an unprecedented depth and breadth of professional experience in the public, private and academic sectors; their specializations include architecture, engineering, construction, real estate, business, finance, change strategy and policy. The BoA works collaboratively to cultivate deeper relationships between industry, government and financial partners, with the goal of facilitating digital transformation in the AEC sector.

“Aubrey is a highly respected leader who is frequently sought after for his expertise,” says Arash Shahi, CEO of AECO. “The AECO leadership team is very pleased to welcome him to our board where his network and vast array of experience will add tremendous value. One of the first projects that Aubrey is contributing to, and where his standards background is particularly germane, is One Ontario – an initiative that seeks to establish a unified data exchange framework between municipalities, the AEC community and provincial agencies. Aubrey will also advise on innovative digital projects in AECO’s start-up studio.”
