Angelo DelZotto, pioneer and visionary of the Toronto skyline, passes away at 89
TORONTO, Ontario, August 27th, 2020
On behalf of everyone at AECO, we are sending our deepest condolences to the entire DelZotto and Tridel family.
We at AECO Innovation Lab were very saddened to learn of the passing of Angleo DelZotto – head of Canada’s Leading and Award-Winning Residential Builder – Tridel Corporation. The Greater Toronto Skyline is indubitably marked by Angelo’s pioneering vision and leadership – after all his company is responsible for building over 100,000 homes and condos in the region.
His collaborative and inclusive management style meant that employees and team members, no matter their position, were immediately considered a part of Angelo’s large extended family. Angelo was also an amazing philanthropist – contributing to many impactful causes that significantly changed the lives of many in our country. His people-centric philosophy drew admiration and respect from countless individuals inside and outside the industry – and was a style that many attempted to emulate – but could never really duplicate.

Mr. DelZotto through Tridel, has always been at the forefront of Canadian Architectural, Engineering and Construction (AEC) Research and Development – and we at AECO genuinely appreciate his inspired efforts and unwavering support. Whether it be inventing the revolutionary “Flying Forms” Methodology for high-rise construction or re-imagining the future development of Toronto’s Waterfront – we could always count on Angelo to always push the innovation envelope.

Angelo DelZotto will be impossible to replace – but his legacy lives on and influences so many facets of the AEC industry in Canada. AECO will work hard to live up to the philosophy, standards and innovation excellence that Angelo aspired to every day.
