AECO Just Submitted A 500-page Printed Development Application As Per City Requirements

TORONTO, Ontario, June 1st, 2023

AECO Innovation Lab just submitted a 500-page printed development application as per city requirements…

We want to improve the development approvals process for everyone in the ecosystem including municipal public servants, other regulatory agencies, and applicants alike – that’s why we created One Ontario.

The planning work done by municipalities is invaluable in shaping how our cities grow over time. The very important hard work done by municipal staff is often overlooked by others due to inefficiencies outside of their control including having to engage applicants of varied sophistication levels and coordinate between all the various stakeholders involved in different development applications. On top of that, municipalities must also now manage recent legislative changes and new demands from the province for data that has been historically difficult to track and report.

One Ontario aims to empower public servants with tools to make planning processes less tedious and more gratifying. By providing a streamlined development approvals platform, One Ontario enables efficient navigation of various stakeholders through a central communication hub, ensures completeness of received submissions, and allows municipalities to make well-informed decisions faster in processing applications. Additionally, it offers a mechanism for improved data reporting, assisting in meeting provincial requirements.

The 500-page paper application we submitted truly showcases the need for digital transformation in municipalities and we want to help with One Ontario.
