Jarkko Turtiainen is the Vice President, North America Cloudpermit, a cloud-based e-permitting software solution that creates a simpler, online and paperless building permitting process that vastly improves the user experience and efficiency. Currently residing in Toronto and making strides in the building and construction industry, he was originally born and raised in Australia earning his Bachelor’s degree in Sports Studies. Jarkko is an avid sports enthusiast and spent a lot of his life heavily involved in sports. He lived and worked between Australia and Finland and was eventually recruited to the US on a scholarship for his natural talent. After a little while, he returned to Finland to grow his career in hockey and worked with different clubs and associations surrounding the sport. Later, he decided to pivot into Tech where his sports philosophy of achieving a common goal for the betterment of the team/community became a prevalent and useful skill in his work. Having spent many years in Europe, where he developed a stake in the ground with Evolta Oy as the COO in International Markets, he realized that Canada was a market that had shared values and common objectives in the development sector. In 2016, Evolta Oy, made their way into Canada under the Cloudpermit brand.
Jarkko was always fascinated with the potential of digitizing robust processes and creating user-friendly experiences. He has a passion for creating change and helping people through a global lens bringing his special insight to any conversation. Whether it be working in a group or as an individual, Jarkko always strives to do what’s right and best for the team - a skill refined from his intensive sports background. You can count on him to make the right strategic moves to overcome challenges and exceed objectives, which makes him a great addition to the AECO Board of Experts.
When Jarkko is not in the office or playing ice hockey, he is training for his next big physical challenge. He competed in the Abu Dhabi International Triathlon in 2014, where he placed 6th and also participated in Ironman Finland where he finished 28th out of 1500 people. Jarkko also has an immense curiosity for learning about people and enjoys reading autobiographies in his spare time. He also loves exploring the world and travelling with his wife and two kids.
